Ralph “Geno” Eugene Weir, 73, of McCook, NE, passed away on March 29, 2026.

     Geno was born on June 21, 1952, in Liberal, Kansas. His parents were Floyd and Dorothy (Conrad) Weir. He was raised in Las Animas, Colorado, where he graduated from high school. He continued his education at Denver Automotive and Diesel College, where he learned he didn’t like diesel engines. He then spent most of his life working as a mechanic at places like the drag strip, the bowling alley, and D&S Hardware.

     On February 25, 1995, Geno was united in marriage to Kari (Felker) Weir in Littleton, Colorado. Later, they moved to McCook, Nebraska, and began their journey at D&S Hardware. Customers didn’t just come in for tools or supplies, they came in for Geno’s knowledge, insight, and advice.

     He loved camping with his family, wrenching on race cars and motorcycles, a good road trip, and stimulating conversations—often adding a rare wit to any topic.

     Geno was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy (Conrad) Weir; his sister, Carolyn Caporale; and his father-in-law, Dennis Felker.

     He is survived by his loving wife, Kari Weir; his three children, Christopher Weir of Fowler, Colorado; Jacob Weir (Valerie Villasana) of Manitou Springs, Colorado; and Katy (Grady) Schmitt of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Roth of McCook, Nebraska; his sister-in-law, Kristina (Scott) Propes of Culbertson, Nebraska; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon, April 3, 2026 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
