Fredrick O. Trosper

Fredrick Orva Trosper of Cambridge passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Arapahoe. He was 93 years old.

Fred was born on December 3, 1923 at Norton, Kansas, the son of Orva Benjamin and Josephine (Heitmann) Trosper. He attended rural school thru eighth grade. At that time, Fred was expected to leave school to help on the family farm.

He was united in marriage to Nellie Jean Williams at Norton. To this union three children were born. The couple would farm south of Cambridge for many years until moving in to town in 1954. Fred became the owner and operator of a truck stop where he was a mechanic. Fred and Nellie also purchased a restaurant in Cambridge which kept them busy as well as raising their children.

Fred was a member of the Cambridge Odd Fellows and McCook Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, tinkering with motors, playing his harmonica, traveling and making clocks. He also enjoyed following his children and grandchildren with all of their activities. He was a huge supporter of the Cambridge Trojans and all their sports.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Nellie on January 18, 2013; his parents, Orva and Josephine Trosper; infant sisters, Twila and Marie Trosper and sisters, Geneva Fuller and Roberta Manges; infant brother, Eldon Trosper and brother, Gary Trosper.

Survivors include his daughter, Connie Mount of Scottsbluff; sons, Don (Janet) Trosper of Wilsonville and Norman (Joyce) Trosper of Cambridge; sisters, Mildred Farr of Kearney, Donna Wier of Cambridge, Ardis Lorimer of McCook Joyce Boyer of Smith Center, KS and Dixie (Swede) Swanson of Curtis; brother, Wren (Lewella) Trosper of Arapahoe; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at Lockenour Jones Mortuary.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Cambridge with Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.
