Francis R. Broz age 90 of McCook, NE died at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE on December 17, 2014. He was born in rural Hayes County, Nebraska on April 22, 1924 to Frank and Agnes (Schneider) Broz. He attended and graduated from high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1941 at Curtis. Fran returned to his home to farm. Fran served his country during WWII from 1946 till 1947. Fran was united in marriage to Louise Stritt on January 30, 1951. Louise preceded him in death 0n November 16, 1995. He retired from the farm in 1980 and moved to McCook. Fran was a member of the Sacred Heart parish and later he moved his membership to St. Patricks Catholic Church. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus both 3rd Degree and 4th Degree of McCook. Fran volunteered at the McCook Senior Center. He loved to polka dance and to tell stories. He also was an avid pitch player daily at Fullers. Fran served on the Hayes County COOP board and the School district #29 school board. Fran was preceded in death by his brothers: Vincent and Walter; sisters: Florence Jeffers and Theresa Stiener. He leaves to mourn his daughter: Lou Ann Broz of McCook, NE; son; Steven and wife Cherri of Hayes Center; 4 grandchildren: Angelia Fisher; Lindsey and Scott Jorgensen; Aaron and Britni Broz; Lane and Brianna Broz; 11 great-grandchildren; Jacelyn and Natalie Joregensen; Kynleigh and Kadence Fisher; Ashlin, Aubrey, Kade Broz; Ellie, Bentley, Mya, Presley Broz: brother: Lavern Broz of Dallas TX; sister-in-laws: Elaine and husband Roger Magdtadt of Dakota Dunes, SD; Alice Mae Stritt and Mary Ann Stritt both of McCook; brother-in-law Frances Haag of Bartley. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 1 pm till 5 pm on Sunday from 2pm till after rosary. Rosary will be recited on Sunday December 21, 2014 at 7:30 PM at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St Patricks Catholic Church on Monday December 22, 2014 at 10:30 am. With co celebrants: Father Gary Brethour and Father Tom Schultes. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery of McCook. Memorials may be left in Frans name to either the McCook Senior Center or the Humane Society.
