Florence Marie Modrell

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Florence Marie Modrell passed away April 24, 2014, at South Lake Village Rehab Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Florence was born on Nov. 22, 1917, to the late Katharine (Vontz) and Fred Weskamp at Danbury, Red Willow County, Nebraska. She graduated from Marion High School in 1935 and worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 12 years. On April 3, 1951, she married Earl Modrell. They raised three children on the family farm north of McCook until they retired and moved to McCook in 1972. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Altar Society, the McCook Hospital Auxiliary and the Homemaker's Club. She enjoyed sewing and playing cards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; one sister, Irene Lebsack and five brothers, Lawrence, Bernard, Jim, Leo and Delbert. Survivors include one son, John of Lincoln, daughter, Barbara Roush (husband, Ron) of Germantown, Maryland, daughter Joan Bryan (husband, Don) of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Brandi Roush of New York, New York and Brad Roush of Arlington, Virginia; two brothers, Ted Weskamp (wife, Donna) of Canon City, Colorado, and Donald Weskamp of North Platte, Nebraska; and two sisters, Ilene Porth of El Paso, Illinois and Mary Lou Harned of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rosary service will be at 7:30 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, Nebraska. Funeral services will be on Monday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, McCook, with burial at Memorial Park. Memorials may be sent to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
