Esther E. Joseph, age 89, of Cambridge died at the Long term Care of the Tri-Valley Health System on Thursday, December 09, 2010. She was born August 19, 1921in Indianola, NE, to John and Elizabeth "Bessie" (Colling) Madden. Esther attended country school and later school in Indianola. On June 5, 1943 she was united n marriage to Delton P. Joseph at St. Catherines Catholic Church. The couple bought a farm in 1945 north of Cambridge and lived there until 1984. Delton preceded her in death in 1984. Esther moved from the farm into Cambridge. Ester enjoyed growing roses and garden. She did embroidery and was also famous for her popcorn cakes. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, altar society. Esther worked at the Cambridge hospital as a nurses aid with over 40 years of dedicated service to patients. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delton; 2 brothers: Cecil and Clarence "Stub" Madden. She is survived by her son: Gary of Cambridge, NE and daughter: Kay and husband Doug Raburn of Durham, North Carolina; 4 grandchildren; 3 sisters: Cecelia Hertz of Grand Island, NE; Mary Gill of Denver, CO; Patricia and husband Gayle Tines of Kearney, NE
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge with Father Robert Barnhill officiating the services. Memorials may be left to the Tri-Valley Foundation Memorial Fund.
