Elvira May (Walker) Potthoff, age 84, died Thursday April 6, 2016 at Kearney Regional Hospital. Mrs. Potthoff was born April 15, 1931 in Red Willow County to the late Emmett and Josephine Walker. She grew up in the Danbury and Lebanon Nebraska area and graduated from Lebanon High School. She was married December 16, 1951 to Lloyd Potthoff. They farmed northeast of McCook, Nebraska for many decades before moving to McCook in 1986 where she spent the remainder of her life. Mrs. Potthoff was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Merry Mrs. social club. She was honored by the Memorial United Methodist Church with a service award for her many decades of volunteer work for the Helping Hand thrift store. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening, and geneology. Mrs. Potthoff was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, one sister, one son, and one grandson. Survivors include two sons, Darrel and wife Joyce of Lincoln, NE, and Larry and wife Jodi of Hastings, NE; two daughters, Dr. Sandra of Stuart, FL, and Marianne of McCook Ne;, one sister Burdene Kasson of Beaver City, NE; one brother Leslie and wife Mary of Durango, CO; and one grandson Bradford and wife Katie of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Services will be Saturday at 3pm in the Hermann-Jones Funeral Home of McCook. Internment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook. Visitation will be on Friday, April 8, from 9-8 pm at the Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
