Ellsworth Edwin Brown, age 93, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman, NE where he resided with his loving wife Ruth. He was born on September 23, 1925 to Ellsworth and Bertha Brown. Ellsworth graduated high school in Prescott, Iowa. He married Ione Leona Hawkins on July 27, 1952 in Lenox, Iowa. They made their home in Denver, Colorado where they were blessed with one daughter, Ramona Lynn on December 16, 1960. After the death of his wife Ione, he married Ruth Dunn in 1994 and they lived in various towns in southwest Nebraska. Ellsworth proudly served in the US Army in World War II and Korea. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports and was a fan of the Denver Broncos. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Brownie" to his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Ione Leona (Hawkins) Brown; father, Ellsworth Keel Brown and mother Bertha Louise (Boham) Brown; sisters, Maxine Swafford and Mattie Brown; and brothers, Clyde Brown and Daniel Brown. Ellsworth is survived by his second wife, Ruth Brown of Benkelman; daughter Ramona (Don) Lewis of Commerce City, Colorado; step-children, Jerry (Linda) Hall, Douglas Hall, Carol (Rich) Fegley, Lynda (Bill) Neely, and James Hall; along with grandchildren Wesley (Crystal) Lewis, Michael (Reanna) Lewis and Christopher Jordan Lewis, and many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be given in his name and left at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, 607 Norris Ave., McCook, NE. The family chose cremation. There will not be a local service. Private family inurnment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Colorado at a later date. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is entrusted with the arrangements.
