Edward Todd

Edward "Ed" Dalton Todd was born on December 22, 1951 in Hebron, Nebraska to Pholey "Pete" and Betty (Leitner) Todd. The family moved to Kansas, where Ed attended high school in Atwood. Ed served his country honorably in the United States Army and the Kansas Army National Guard. Ed married Judy Hubl on February 14, 1987. They welcomed their son, Dustin, in 1990. Ed and Judy ran Todd and Sons Trucking LLC together for over 30 years. He was incredibly proud of the fact that he had driven over 5.5 million miles with no chargeable accidents in his career. There was no such thing as a stranger when Ed was around. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and he will be remembered for his numerous unending storytelling abilities. Ed liked to go fast; he and Dustin enjoyed working on and racing their go-carts. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR on television and was a huge fan of "The Intimidator," Dale Earnhardt. When not putting miles on the highways or on the track, Ed also loved working with his hands and a day spent fishing. Ed passed away on Monday evening, September 11, 2023, after a short battle with cancer, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman. He was 71 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Betty; a son, Heath Todd; and his sister, Sherrill Cassen. Eds stories and memory will live on through his wife, Judy Kay Todd of Trenton; daughters, Heather (Dave) Gavitt of Parker, Colorado and Heidi (Kirk) Lowry of Brush, Colorado; son, Dustin (Jada) Todd of Trenton; grandchildren: Emory Dye, Tyler Hueftle, Jonathan Markland, Hannah Reinhart, Alyssa Dye, Jayden Kreegar, Taytem Hueftle, Ellianna Hueftle, and baby Todd coming in December of 23; great-grandchildren: Greyson Reinhart, Huntley Reinhart, Zeppelin Markland, Haven Dye, Aria Kreegar, baby Reinhart in March of 24, and baby Kreegar in December of 23; as well as extended family and countless friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday morning, September 16, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton, with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Cremation was chosen with a private family inurnment at the Trenton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family of Ed Todd for future designation.
