Doris Ann Tryon was born in Crawford, Nebraska on July 13, 1935 to Guy F. and Nora N. (Hughes) Millburn. She attended school in Nebraska and California, graduating high school in Long Beach, California.
Doris married Darrell Tryon; his work moved the family to Oregon and many towns in western and northern Nebraska, including Chadron, Valentine and Alliance. In 2008, Doris made her final move to Indianola, Nebraska to be closer to family. Doris was a hard worker. She was employed at the Cedar Inn in McCook, Nebraska for many years as a housekeeper. Doris also tended bar at many area bars and restaurants, most recently Sarge’s in McCook.
Doris loved arts and crafts and always knew when and where a bingo event was taking place. She was an avid reader and kept a large garden, she loved flowers. She was happiest when surrounded by family and enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch and cribbage.
Doris passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 89 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; daughter, Susan Jo Thompson; sister, Lois Ann Millburn; brother, Ernie Millburn; and son-in-law, Dave Stewart.
Survivors include her son, Darrell and wife, Rhonda Tryon of Indianola; daughter, Marian Stewart of Grand Island, Nebraska; granddaughters, Rene Jackson and husband, Jeff Jeffery and Dawn Marie Fish; great-grandchildren: Chandler McDonald, Dalton Fish, Kara Jackson, Korin Jackson, and Kyle Jackson; great-great-grandchildren Trevion Smith, Kaydance Skye Rose, Royal James Anthony, and Everleigh Ann Jackson (on the way); and a sister-in-law, Loretta Milburn of Hill City, South Dakota.
Cremation was chosen and memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook. A private family inurnment in the Danbury-Marion Cemetery will take place at a later date.
