Doris Alice Farr

Doris Alice Farr, age 90, of Cambridge, passed away at the Cambridge Manor on March 18, 2016. She was born near Plum Creek south of Eustis, NE on August 8, 1925, to Jesse R. and Frieda L. (Hueftle) Houser.

Doris graduated 8th grade from Gosper County District school 32 and later graduated from Eustis High School in 1943. Doris taught country school after receiving her Normal Training Certificate. Later Doris attended Beauty School in Grand Island, NE. While there she lived with the family of Dorothy Lynch creator of the famous salad dressing.

On February 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Albert Farr in Cambridge. It was a double wedding with her sister Lilly and husband Argil Donner. The couple honeymooned in Colorado before returning to NE. The couple made their home northeast of Cambridge till the moved to town in 1974.

Albert preceded Doris in death in 2008. Doris was a former member of the Prairie Bell Club. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening and her flower garden of irises and roses. Doris at one time had over 100 different varieties of roses.. She loved to bake with her husband Albert. They made and shared over 500 angel food cakes with friends and family.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Albert; daughter: Wilma; grand daughter: Amanda Farr: great grandson: Tyson Sayer; great grand daughter: Gentry Farr; grand-daughter-in-law: Donnie Farr; 4 brothers: Raymond; Rex; Homer and Bob Houser.

Doris is survived by her 2 sons: Stan and wife Ann Farr of Farnam; Bob and wife LaVella Farr of Cambridge; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister: Lilly Donner of Farnam; brother: Clifford Houser of Cambridge.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the Congregational Church in Cambridge with Bill Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the Holbrook Cemetery. Visitation for Doris will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 9:00 AM till 7:00 PM. Memorials may be left in Doris name to the Ascera Care Hospice.
