Dora Grace Burton

Dora "Grace" Probasco Burton, age 96, of Cambridge, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge.

Grace was born on February 12, 1920 to Daniel Gail and Nellie May (Webb) Probasco. Grace was known as "Sis" all her life by relatives and friends. Grace grew up on a farm north of Bartley with her parents, sister, Goldene, and brother Gail. She attended District 21 during elementary years and graduated from Indianola High School in 1938.

Grace was united in marriage to Gerald William Burton at the home of her parents on September 28, 1940. They spent several months working in Iowa, before Gerald was called back to Bartley by the draft board due to World War II, where they continued farming. She and Gerald were blessed with a wonderful son, Michael G. and daughter, Gina Dee.

Grace as a 75-years member of the Bartley Kemper United Methodist Church. She belonged to several organizations including United Methodist Women and the Tally Ho Card Club. She was a representative for Fuller Brush and Amway Companies. She was employed by the Cambridge Memorial Hospital for 15 years. She and Gerald loved being with people and travel whenever they could.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Daniel and Nellie Probasco; her husband, Gerald Burton; and sisters-in-law, Elsie Probasco and Audrey Troester.

Survivors include her son, Michael Burton of Bartley; daughter, Gina Dee and husband, Lonnie West, of Arvada, CO; grandchildren, Terry and Nikki Burton and Shawn and Kitty Burton all of Omaha; Dawn Burton and daughters of Denver, CO, Christopher Sayer and wife, Tiffany, of Denver, Jennifer and Kim Evans of Cambridge; 12 great-grandchildren, Lilly, Jesse, Bobby, Tracy and Hallie Evans; Joseph, Anna and Sammy Burton; Quinn Burton, Madisyn and Ava Burton and Gwendolynn Sayer; sister, Goldene Burton of Cambridge; brother, Gail Probasco of Cambridge; sister-in-law, Marian Raburn of Holdrege; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016, 9:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. at Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.

Funeral services are Thursday, May 26, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at the Cambridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartley Cemetery.
