Donna Gayle Mousel Taylor, age 68, passed away at her home in Kearney on June 8, 2016. Jones Mortuary of Cambridge is in charge of arrangements. She chose cremation and memorial services will be held at Cambridge at Jones Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15.
She was born at McCook, Ne. on Sept 12, 1947 to C.K. and Dorothy Cotton Mousel of Edison. She attented District 7 rural school in Gosper County for her early years of education then entered Edison Public School where she graduated in 1965. She would then further her education at Kearney State College where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Upon graduation she began teaching at Litchfield Public Schools where she taught first and second grades for the next 42 and 1/2 years.
In her growing up years she spent a lot of time on her Palamino horse, Jackie, with her brother Danny helping out with the hereford cattle on their parents ranch north of Edison on Turkey Creek.
On May 28, 1985 she was married to Howard Taylor of Minden. They made their home in Kearney.
Donna was a member of NSEA. She loved going fishing, gardening and her flowers and in more recent years enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her husband, Howard, of the home, two step children, Brenda Taylor and friend BJ of Gibbon and Ron Taylor of Kearney, one step granddaughter, Paige Meyers and one step great grandson, Landon Meyers.
Also surviving her is her brother, Dan (Mona) Mousel of Edison, nieces Allison Jacquot of Merna, Diane Swayze of Mesa, Arizona, nephew Kirby Mousel of Central City, a host of cousins, other relatives and special friend Gail Perdue.
Preceeding her in death were her parents, sister Jo Elizalde, nephew Scott Swayze, and a brother in law, Gary Swayze.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
