Donald Sitzman, 84, of Culbertson, passed away on Saturday afternoon, May 29, 2021 at his home in Culbertson. He was born on April 23, 1937 to George Jr. and Wilma (Butler) Sitzman in Culbertson, Nebraska. Don attended school in Culbertson and graduated high school with the class of 1954. On May 28, 1960, he married Norma Elaine Patterson at Golden, Colorado and two children, Vicki and Randy joined the union. Not long later, three more children would come along, Tonya, MeLinda, and Collette. Don was employed by Andys Distribution in McCook for 14 years and by Hitchcock County in the Road Maintenance Department for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could camping and boating. He enjoyed Husker football, playing horseshoes, and golf. After retirement, Don and Norma became snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona for twelve years and enjoyed every minute of it. They met many people and made countless friendships with other couples from the United States and Canada. Don was a member of the Elks in McCook, the Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He and Norma were the Culbertson 4th of July Honor Couple in 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Sitzman; daughter, Collette Cae Sitzman; and grandson, Christopher J. Bauer. Dons survivors include his wife, Norma of Culbertson; daughter, MeLinda (John) Palic of McCook; daughter, Tonya (Paul Jr.) Holthus of Sidney, Montana; son, Randy (Kelly) Weaver of Las Vegas; daughter, Vicki (Ron) Bauer of Culbertson; brother, Lynn (Rose) Sitzman of Seward, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren: Ashley, Connor, Brandon, Michelle, Breanna, Chase, Blaise, Codi, Mike, and Lisa; 14 great-grandchildren: Sam, Julia, Max, Anna, Gabe, Mason, Sophia, Brinley, Everly, Colton, Quinton, Avery, Ian, and Curtis; as well as many nieces and nephews and countless friends. A book signing and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
