Donald Jack Lowry age 84 formerly of Cambridge, passed away at the Good Samaritan Village / Perkins Pavilion on Friday, May 19, 2017. He was born in Winfield, KS on May 4, 1933 to Donald James and Mary Louise (Mullenix) Lowry. He grew up and graduated from Bell Plaines High School in KS in 1951.
Jack didn't want to farm so be began a lifetime of work in the oil fields. Jack worked for many companies in KS: Burch Drilling, American Exploration and Stoeppelwerth Drilling of McCook, he even his own company Lowry Casing Crew. His employment kept him in KS and in Nebraska.
On June 7, 1952 he was united in marriage to Marilyn McGee in Wellington, KS. Marilyn P{receded him in death on January 24,2009. The family resided in Cambridge during the 1960 and late 70's. Jack moved to Hastings from Cambridge in 2012.
Jack loved to fish, hunt watch football and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed coffee with friends in the morning and the afternoon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Marilyn and a brothers-in-law: John Leonard; Darrel McGee
Jack is survived by his 2 daughters: Jan Lowry of Hastings; JoLee and husband Kendall Max of Juanita, NE; son: James and wife LaRee Lowry of Juanita, NE; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grand child; sister: Carol Leonard of Tyro, AR.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, NE with Rev. Tim Burke officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM till 7:00 PM at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Interment will be held at the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, KS on Thursday May 25, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Jim Jones presiding. Memorials may be left in Jack's name to the Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge. Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockenour.com
