Don P. Rowland

Don Patrick Rowland was born in McCook, Nebraska to Lydia (Hoff) and Don Charles Rowland on the family farm March 14, 1943. Don grew up in McCook and went to country school through 8th grade. He graduated from McCook High School in 1961. He graduated from McCook Junior College in 1963 and went on to attend college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Growing up, Don eagerly helped on his family farm and was active in 4H, he even won a purple ribbon for his dairy cow, Smokey in 1957.

On June 13, 1965, he married Korrine Clark, whom he had met on a blind date with friends a year before they were married. They celebrated 59 years of marriage with much of his family on June 13, 2024.

To the union, three children were born, which made the family busy with activities, including hunting and fishing. Don spent much of his life working for Paulsen Construction (Cozad) where he was a road construction supervisor. Don loved his black labs, Lucy, Lacey and current dog Lassy.

For most of his life, Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. He taught many in his family the right way to do both and showed patience for everyone, especially his grandchildren.

Don passed away in North Platte, Nebraska on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was 81 years old.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Lydia Rowland as well as Fred Gammel (brother-in-law).

Survivors include his wife, Korrine Rowland (Clark), his kids, Josh (Sheri) Rowland, Lynn Rowland and Tom (Tina) Rowland; 11 grandkids, Benjamin, Abigail, Samuel and Harrison (Josh and Sheri); Tyler, Mathew, Elora and Landon (Lynn); Kylie, Kennedy and Luke (Tom and Tina); six great-grandchildren, Nathanial, Layla, Rayne, Rosemary, TJ and Aaliyah; Karen Gammel (Clark), sister-in-law, nieces Shelly, Kora and Debbie. Many extended family members are also recognized.

Cremation was chosen. A celebration of life ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Saturday morning, December 7, 2024 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Jeff Kelley officiating. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook will follow services.
