Dolores M. McKain, age 86, died peacefully in her home on Monday, April 9, 2018 in Stratton, NE. Dolores was born February 5, 1932 in Beardsley, Kansas to Paul and Mary Leona Haller. She was raised on a farm south of Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School. Dolores married Lewis McKain on June 19, 1952. Lewis and Dolores were blessed with fourteen children, seven sons and seven daughters. They raised their family on a farm south of Trenton. Dolores worked side by side with her husband Lewis and loved the home they created for their family. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church and the St. James Alter Society. You could always find her helping out at church functions and spent many years preparing students for their First Communion. When she wasnt at the Church or working on the farm, you could find her volunteering her time at El Dorado Manor Nursing home. Dolores eventually moved back to Stratton and was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church. Faith and family were two staples in her life. She loved any opportunity to play a game of cards or challenge you in a game of Yahtzee. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening and spent many hours hand beading calendars for her kids. Holidays were always a special time as she was able to see so many of her kids, grandkids and great grand kids. When Dolores wasnt busy with family, you knew she was practicing her faith. She found comfort in reading prayers and reciting the rosary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Lewis McKain.
