Dixie Marie Stock

Dixie Stock of rural Culbertson passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in Trenton, NE. Dixie was born April 9, 1927, at the home in Tipton Canyon south of Culbertson to Floyd and Flora (Osborn) Marks. She grew up on the Driftwood where she liked to read and play the guitar. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1946, and worked for a summer at Cudahay Cheese Factory in Culbertson. She taught school at Pleasant View District #71 north of Trenton 1946-47, then District #68 a mile east of the Stone Church south of Culbertson 1947- 1949. Dixie married Arthur Stock September 17, 1950, and roomed as a nanny in Ft. Riley, KS, while Arthur was in basic training. In 1956, they moved to the Stone Ranch where they farmed and ranched for many years. Dixie grew large gardens, canned, sewed, and enjoyed tending her yard and flowers. She was preceded by her parents; grandparents Bud and Winnie (McAlister-Marks) Edwards and Richard and Emma (Goss) Osborn; brothers, Art Marks, Alton "Ton" Marks, infant brother Dale, and nephew, Russell Daughtery. She is survived by children, Linda (Bill) Lanning, Atwood, KS, Kathy Scott, North Platte and Dale Stock, rural Culbertson; sister, Doris (Don) Daugherty, Trenton; brothers, Russell (Lavena) Marks, Trenton, and Willard (Janette) Marks, McCook; sisters-in-law, Alice Marks, rural Culbertson and Alta Fahrenbruch of Norton, KS; grandchildren, Stacy (Dan) Collins, Ogallala; Brandon (Kristi) Dirks, Ludell, KS; Alan (Amanda) Scott, North Platte; Whitney (Ray) Ashford, Atwood, KS; Brady Stock rural Culbertson; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given in her name to the Church of God, Trenton, NE. Visitation will be Monday, April 2, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook.
