Dixie Jane Lorentz

November 21, 1933 — August 20, 2022

Dixie Jane Lorentz, 88, died peacefully in her sleep in her home on Saturday, August 20, 2022, with her daughter and son-in-law and fur babies present in McCook, Nebraska. Dixie was born on November 21, 1933, in Lebanon, Nebraska, to Marion and Reva (Mays) Springer. She was raised in the Lebanon and Danbury, Nebraska area. She graduated from high school in Lebanon, Nebraska as Salutatorian of her graduating class. On March 17, 1953, she met Marvin Lorentz at a St. Patrick's Day dance. On Sept. 13, 1953, she was united in marriage to Marvin Lorentz at Herndon, Kansas. She and Marvin moved to McCook, Nebraska and raised two children. Later in the retirement years, she and Marvin enjoyed traveling on Senior Bus Tours around Nebraska, the United States, and Canada. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2017. Dixie worked for over 30 years as an Auditor/Assistant Vice President with McCook National Bank. She helped her husband in the family business of Marvs Standard Service; by doing the bookkeeping, pumping gas, cleaning vehicles out, and being Marvs right hand. She was very active in the community through her volunteer work with the Toy Box, McCook Humane Society, McCook National Bank Senior Activities, SPUCC (South Platte Chamber of Commerce) for 18 years, McCook Ladies VFW, Elks DOES, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Club and Nebraska Association of Bank Women. She has been a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church for over 53 years, and UMW Ladies Guild/Sarah Circle. She and Marvin could be seen dancing at least once a week somewhere in the area to their favorite tunes of 50 & 60s music and Glenn Miller's band. Dixie always had a soft spot for animals and fed the neighbor's dog a treat or two. Listening to music with family and friends was another one of her favorite pastimes and her love for music continued to show in her children.
