Dessie W. Lewis age 81 of Trenton, passed away at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton on October 15, 2015. She was born in Clovis, New Mexico on November 28, 1933 to James and Clementine (Messina) Hylton. Dessie graduated from Ft. Sumner High School in New Mexico in 1951. She was a tap dancer during her high school years. In 1951 she was married to Roy Lewis and to this union two sons was born, Roger Dee and Pat Ed. The couple bought a ranch in December of 1952 and moved south of Trenton, Nebraska. Dessie and Roy traveled around the United States as Roy was a professional rodeo cowboy. Dessie was never afraid of work, starting as a waitress at age 13, continuing until she retired. She worked locally as a waitress and bartender at one time or another at Red Horse, Elks, Pow-Wow Club, Rockin Robins. She also owned the Amens Bottle shop for a while. She was an 18 year member to the Trenton Emergency Crew, enjoyed going to the lake to fish, crocheted and hardly missed sporting events of her kids or grandchildren. Dessie was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Anne; brothers; Harvey Gibson, Parmer and Skeeter Webb. Dessie leaves to mourn her life partner of 28 years, Alvie Vanvleet; two sons, Roger and wife, Lisa Lewis and Pat and wife, Ronda Lewis all of Trenton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Bailey of Santa Fe, NM and Geraldine Clark of Trenton; two brothers, Mauro Gibson of Roswell, NM and LeRoy and wife Georgine Gibson of Red Bluff, CA. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Trenton on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at 10:30 am with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. Interment will be in the Cornell Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in Trenton on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Memorials may left in Dessies name at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel.
