Delores Jean Burton

Delores Jean Burton, age 89, passed away at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook on December 7, 2017. She was born in Minden, Nebraska on December 23, 1927 to Nathan R. and Millie (O'Field) Nelson. The family moved to Cambridge where Delores attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. Delores worked in the Red Willow County Court for five years after her graduation. On June 21, 1952 she was united in marriage to Richard Burton in Cambridge. He preceded her in death in February 2017. Delores also worked as an aide at the Cambridge Manor for five years. She was involved in the Quilters Guild, gardening, canning, and helped in the operation of the family farm. The couple retired from the farm north of Bartley in 1997 and moved to McCook. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Millie; husband, Richard; sister, Irma and husband, Joe Allen; brother, Milford and wife, Arlene Nelson. Delores is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda and husband, Tom Williamson, of Denver, CO and Cindy and husband, Dave Burton, of Bartley, NE; son, Richard and wife, Laurie Burton, of Elizabeth, CO; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Jim and wife, Donna Nelson, of Holdrege. Private graveside services will be held at a future date in Bartley. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
