Delbert A. Blake

Delbert Allan Blake, age 83, a longtime resident of McCook, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2022 in Wauneta, Nebraska. Delbert was born November 7, 1938 to Claude and Marjorie (Callan) Blake in Ogallala, Nebraska. He was raised in the Bartley area and attended school with the class of 1956. On August 28, 1960, Delbert married Neola Premer in Bartley, Nebraska. They moved to McCook where Delbert and his father bought a service station in May of 1961. Delbert worked at Blakes Services until declining health forced him to step away just a few years ago. Delbert was active in his childrens sporting activities and coached their softball and baseball teams. He loved to pheasant and deer hunt and was a fan of all Husker sports. Most of all, he loved driving his fast cars! He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Marjorie; brothers, Dareld (Joyce) Blake and Willard Blake; brother-in-law, Dean Brown; parents-in-law, Noel and Vesta Premer and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Lora Premer. Survivors include his wife, Neola Blake of McCook; children: Cindy (Lonnie) Lawson of McCook; Jerry (Donna) Blake of McCook; Sheila (Tom) Bales of Nebraska City, Nebraska; and Angie (Darrin) Samway of McCook; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Claudine Brown of Bell Buckle, Tennessee; and brother, Dale (Roberta) Blake of Danbury, Nebraska. Cremation was chosen and memorial services will be held at 10:30AM, Wednesday morning, July 13, 2022 at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with Pastor Jeff Kelley officiating. A private family graveside service will take place prior to services in the Bartley Cemetery, Bartley, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the McCook Humane Society, Memorial United Methodist Church of McCook, or to a charity of the donors choosing in Delbert's name.
