Debra Lynne Swanson

Debra Lynne Swanson, age 61, passed away at Indianola, NE on December 28, 2017. She was born in Denver, Colorado on September 16, 1956 to Virgil and Ruth (Kirch) Woodhams. Debra graduated from High School in Houston, Texas in 1974. On June 7, 1980, she was united in marriage to Douglas J. Swanson in Colorado; to this union, three daughters were born: Laura, Amy and Faith. The couple made their home in Colorado in several towns before moving to Nebraska in May of 1999. Deb enjoyed family times. She home schooled her three daughters from K through 12th grade. She loved to garden, cook, bake, do crafts, decorate, and play board games, especially Scrabble and Boggle. She liked to watch TV game shows to challenge her knowledge. Deb worked as a cook for a period at Willow Ridge (Brookdale) in McCook. She was preceded in death by her husband Doug; and father: Virgil. Debra is survived by her 3 daughters: Laura Swanson of Denver, CO; Amy and husband Chris Vossler of McFarland, KS; Faith Swanson at home; mother Ruth Woodhams of McCook; brother: Jim and wife Denise Woodhams of Murietta, CA; sister: Cindy and husband Steve Belanger of Marietta, GA; nieces and nephews: Andrew, Zach and Lindsey. Memorial services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson on Friday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brad Rick officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
