David Eugene Sydow

David E. Sydow, 84, a former resident of Trenton, passed away on January 28, 2021 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska. He was born in Stratton, Nebraska on January 7, 1937 to Robert And Inez (Johnson) Sydow of Trenton, Nebraska. He spent his formative years outside of Trenton on the family farm before attending the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska from which he graduated in 1956. In 1960, he joined the United States Army and served with the 535th Engineer Company in Germany building bridges and infrastructure. David was honorably discharged in April of 1962. Upon his return from the service, he married Mary Lue Reed and had two children. The marriage dissolved and in 1977 David was united in marriage to Doris (Stalder) Simmons. David and Doris farmed in Hitchcock county and attended the United Church of Christ. They were married nearly 44 years at the time of Davids passing. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Sydow; and stepson, Terry Simmons. Survivors include his wife, Doris Sydow; son, Russell Sydow; daughter, Jody Simpson; stepson, Keith Simmons; stepson, Steve Simmons; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. (CT) Tuesday afternoon, February 9, 2021, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with full Military Honors. Viewing will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Memorials may be given to the family of David Sydow for future designation.
