Darla Diane Towery

Darla "Diane" Towery of McCook passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Hillcrest Nursing Home with family by her side. She was 72 years old. Diane was born August 26, 1947 in McCook to parents, Kenneth Roy and Marian (Bailey) Davis of Curtis, Nebraska. She attended and graduated high school in Maywood in 1965, continuing her education at McCook Junior College and later Colby, Kansas, earning a degree as a Registered Nurse in 1992. On June 8, 1991, she married Micheal Towery, inheriting four stepchildren: Heather, Michael Jr., Steve, and Jennifer. Before she received her degree, Diane worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Salt Lake City Veterans Hospital and in Alliance, NE. After marrying Mike, she was employed for 30 years at Hillcrest Nursing Home, part of the time as Director of Nursing. She and her parents traveled with the Friendship Force to Egypt, Korea, England, the Holy Land and enjoyed several cruises together. Diane loved gardening and working with her flowers. She and Mike would go to car shows throughout Southwest Nebraska. Preceding her in death is her father, Kenneth Roy Davis. Survivors include her husband, Micheal Towery of McCook; four children, Heather and husband, Kevin Lockhart, of Yorktown, Virginia, Micheal Towery, Jr and wife, Amanda, of Dayton, Iowa, Steve Towery and girlfriend, Linda McMahon, of McCook, and Jennifer Davis of Beaver City, NE; 19 grandchildren; mother, Marian of Maywood, NE; siblings, Katherine Dumont of Omaha, Arletta and husband, Al Lipparelli, of Elko, Nevada, Kenneth and wife, Cathy Davis, of McCook, Scott and wife, Linda Davis, of Maywood, Doug and wife, Sue Davis, of Ceresco, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Visitation is Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook. Funeral Service is Monday, January 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Church in Maywood, NE, with Pastor Dale Heimer officiating. Burial is in the Maywood Cemetery.
