Daniel Joseph Rempel

Daniel Joseph "Dan" Rempel of McCook, Nebraska was called home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 15, 2019. He was 70 years old. Dan was born October 1, 1948 in Ainsworth, Nebraska to parents, John F. and Carol Evangeline (Hollingshead) Rempel. He graduated high school in Cozad, Nebraska with the class of 1967. On May 8, 1975, he was united in marriage to Ellen Kay White in Englewood, Colorado. This union was blessed with four daughters, Diane, Kim, Julie and Cristy. They made their home in McCook where Dan was a very gifted home builder, not only in McCook, but in the surrounding communities, adding his special touch to each home he built. Dan was a member of McCook Evangelical Free Church. He loved to restore old cars and was a member of the Nebraska Rod and Custom Association. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, watching McCook Bison Sports, and bowling with his Diamond Vogel Team. His most enjoyment in life was his family, never missing a sporting event or activity of his children and grandchildren. Dan was preceded in death by his father, John F. Rempel; and son, Kevin Rempel. Survivors include his loving wife Ellen, of McCook, NE; daughters, Diane (Jeff) Epler of Mesa, AZ, Kim Rempel of Omaha, NE, Julie Paz and Cristy (Luke) Schwartz all of McCook, NE; mother, Carol Rempel of McCook, NE; brothers, Tom (Linda) Rempel of Lincoln, NE, Stephen (Sally) Rempel of Woodstock Valley, CT; sister, Judy (Ted) Long of McCook, NE; nine grandchildren, Andrew Carpenter, Shelby Pennock, Megan Palmer, Olivia Paz, Kaylee Paz, Lacey Paz, Isabelle Paz, Victor Schwartz and Elizabeth Schwartz; two great- grandsons, Easton Palmer and Sid Neville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in his name. Memorial service will be Thursday, June 20, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at McCook Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
