Dan Peterson

Daniel “Dan” Eugene Peterson was born on February 7, 1956 in McCook, NE to Frank and Ethel (Vaughn) Peterson. He attended Trenton High School graduating in 1974 and furthered his education at Wyoming Tech in Laramie, WY for Automotive in 1975.

Dan married Cindy Peterson on July 7, 1978 at Harmon Park in Kearney, NE. They moved to McCook from Kearney in 1979 where Dan was employed by Mid Plains Community College as the lead custodian. He retired in 2022 after almost 26 years.

Dan was in bowling leagues and dart leagues for many years. During the summer you would find him out at Red Willow Reservoir fishing or working in his vegetable garden. He was always up to have a beer on the front porch with his friends and family.

Dan passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his home in McCook. He was 68 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Justin Peterson; his father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Mary Crawford; brother, Jerry Peterson; brother-in-law, Roger Cline and nephew, Jason Cline.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Peterson; children Sean Peterson of Kearney, NE and Candace Peterson and husband, Adam Goudy of Castle Rock, CO; grandchildren: Dravyn Peterson-Green and partner, Eden Copus of Colorado Springs, CO and Maliyah Peterson of Franklin, KY; sister, Elizabeth Cline of Grand Island, NE; brother, John and wife, Kate Peterson of Elwood, NE, sister, Susan and husband, Jerry Brunswick of McCook; sister-in-law, Tracy Hixon of McCook; brother-in-law, Troy and wife, Patty Crawford of Riverdale, NE, sister-in-law, Shelley Crawford and husband, Doug Hartner of Randolph, NE; sister-in-law,- Marci and husband, Jess Day of Amherst, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen and Dan’s wishes for no formal services are being honored by his family.
