Dallas Donald Wagner

May 5, 1928 — April 2, 2017

Dallas Donald Wagner May 5, 1928 April 2, 2017 LaVernia, Texas Dallas Donald Wagner, age 88 formerly of Culbertson NE, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at his home in LaVernia, Texas. Dallas was born on May 5, 1928 to Albert and Alvena (Weber) Wagner. He was born on the family farm where he would reside for most of his life, just north of Culbertson, NE. Dallas graduated high school from Culbertson Public School and immediately went in to farming with his father. There were often contests between them to see who could plant the straightest corn rows. As a young adult, Dallas only lived away from the farm twice. Once when he was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War and when he attended Milford Vocational College for welding. On August 14, 1971 Dallas married Valeda Pollmann and became Dad to her two sons, Michael Wagner and Monte Wagner. Dallas and Valeda added a daughter, Jodi to their family. Dallas enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing basketball, bowling, and joining his buddies for coffee in Culbertson. He was a 50 year member of the Culbertson United Methodist Church, later transferring his membership to the LaVernia United Methodist Church and a life member of the V.F.W. Dallas and his wife retired from farming in 1994 and moved to San Antonio, TX and finally returned to living in a rural community in LaVernia, TX where his daughter and her husband resided. During the first decade plus of his "retirement" Dallas worked as a shuttle bus driver for both Dollar and National Rental Car at the San Antonio International Airport. Being a small town boy, Dallas never knew a stranger and added many more friends to his life at the airport as well as visiting with all the travelers. In 2008, Dallas fully retired after suffering a stroke. He lost the ability to walk but remained the cheerful, smiling man that loved his family dearly and was loved by many. Dallas is survived by his wife Valeda of LaVernia TX; children, Michael Wagner and wife, Claudia, of Bakersfield CA, Monte Wagner and wife, Gail, of McCook NE, Jodi Wagner Kee and husband, Charles, of LaVernia TX; grandchildren, Sara Wagner Hamilton and husband Mitchel, Michael David Wagner, Caitlin Kee, Sean Whitaker, Charles W.
