Dale Leon Oberst age 68 of Cambridge, passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 12, 1947 to Lee and Doris (Healea) Oberst. The family moved to Hayward, CA where Dale went to school and graduated fromMt. Eden High School. Dale joined the US Air Force, in 1966 and retired after serving his country for over 22 years. Dale was united in marriage to Sharon Miller on June 14, 1969 in Carson City, Nevada. They traveled with his career from California, Arkansas, New Hampshire and Germany.
After retiring from the Air Force the couple settled in Vernon, Arizona, came to Nebraska to hunt and visit family near Grand Island and bought a home in Fullerton. For the last five years, Dale and Sharon have been camp host and hostess at the Medicine Creek Reservoir in Cambridge. Dale was maintenance personnel for the State of Nebraska Parks and Recreation. He enjoyed hunting , fishing and camping.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
Dale is survived by his wife Sharon of Cambridge; daughter: Tammy and husband Barkley Thompson of Albuquerque, NM; son: Mike and wife Nicole Oberst of Grand Island, NE; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters.
Dale wishes was cremation and a private family services will be conducted at a future date. Memorials may be left in Dales name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockenour.com.
