Christine "Tine" Eldridge

January 28, 1956 — November 3, 2025

Trenton

Christine Emilie Eldridge was born on January 28, 1956, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to George and Linnea (Asplund) Worner. The first ten years of Christine’s life were spent in various parishes throughout North Dakota, where her father served as a United Methodist minister. In 1966, when he rejoined the Air Force as a Chaplain during the Vietnam War, Christine and her four siblings transitioned from being preacher’s kids to members of a military family, traveling and living across the country.

Christine—known affectionately as Tiney to friends and family—graduated from high school in Hawaii in 1974 before attending Florida State University. She was adventurous, easygoing, and never one to worry.

On February 24, 1982, she married Samuel Dean Eldridge. Together, they built a life full of movement and meaning, making homes throughout the Midwest while raising three children. To Tine, motherhood was her greatest and most cherished adventure. Her children and grandchildren were her reason for living.

When she and Sam became empty nesters, they spent seven years on the road in a semi-truck, traveling nearly one million miles and visiting 46 states while Sam worked as an owner/operator. Tine relished the experiences and often marveled at the views that became their “office.” In 2018, they settled permanently in Trenton, Nebraska.

Those who knew Tine were drawn to her sweet nature and easy smile. She was cheerful and uncomplaining, no matter what life brought her way, and her deep faith gave her strength during difficult times.

In the spring of 2020, Christine was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure, requiring daily dialysis for the remainder of her life. Though the treatments kept her homebound, she and Sam continued to find joy and beauty in their home and family. Their roles shifted, with Sam learning to care for both the home and for Tine in her final years. Through it all, she remained an inspiring and uplifting presence.

Christine passed away peacefully, with Sam by her side, on November 3, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to honor her spirit and memory include her loving husband, Sam; their three children and families—daughter Emilie of Fairland, Oklahoma, with husband Austin and grandsons Charlie and Chase Gould; daughter Joy of Culbertson, Nebraska, with husband Mike and grandchildren Logan, Rambler, and Daisy Farr; and son David of Morrison, Colorado, with wife Grace Eldridge. She is also survived by her sisters, LeAnne Miller (Robert), Sheila Matthew (Douglas), Rebecca Lussier; and her brother, Elroy Worner (Carmela). Numerous nieces, nephews, and family friends will remember her fondly.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook with Chaplain Tyler Thiessen providing words of comfort. Burial in the Culbertson Cemetery will follow services.
