November 19, 1959 — November 23, 2025

McCook

Chet W. Risenhoover was born on November 19, 1959, in Altus, Oklahoma to Geral and Katherine (Branam) Risenhoover. Chet spent his formative years in Fort Worth, Texas, where he graduated with the class of 1978 from Arlington Heights High School and furthered his education at Tarrant County Junior College. Chet married Connie Roberson in 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Chet’s professional journey began at General Dynamics, which later transformed into Lockheed Martin, where he worked for over 20 years as a welder and metal fitter. Chet met Sarah Oldehoeft online and soon after left Lockhead Martin and Texas behind as he moved to Carson City, Nevada to begin a new life with Sarah. They were united in marriage in 1998. Chet’s work experience laid a strong foundation for him to continue to apply his skills at PCC Structurals in Carson City as a welder. Chet and Sarah moved to McCook, Nebraska in 2006 where Chet also contributed at Valmont in various capacities and even had a brief stint working at Walmart while residing in the community.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chet was deeply passionate about his interests. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and found great joy in listening to a wide array of music. He was an avid reader, he especially enjoyed time emersed in a Robert Parker novel. A testament to his character was his desire to mentor and teach; had his health permitted, he would have eagerly shared his knowledge of welding with young people, passing on his skills to future generations.

Chet was a valued member of his community and actively participated in the spiritual life of the churches he attended. He sang in the choir at Westside Baptist Church in Texas and was a current member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, where his contributions and presence will be fondly remembered.

Chet passed away on November 23, 2025, in McCook, Nebraska, at the age of 66.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Geral and Kathy Risenhoover.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Risenhoover of McCook; children: Chet Geral “CG” Risenhoover and wife, Dakota of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Sara (Risenhoover) Simpson and husband, Ben of Southaven, Mississippi, Lydia Risenhoover of McCook, and Jacob Risenhoover of McCook; grandchildren: Augie, Emerson, Cillian, and Frank Risenhoover and Ingrid and Dylan Simpson; and brother, Kyle Risenhoover and wife, Michelle of Hurst, Texas.
