Charles Jerome 'Jerry' Behnke

Charles Jerome "Jerry" Behnke of Indianola died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. He was 86 years old. Jerry was born in Frontier County, Nebraska, on December 27, 1932, to Bernard John and Daisy Florence (Anderson) Behnke. He attended school in Frontier County, served in the United States Navy, and attended aviation mechanics school in Colorado. He married Iva Lou Michel on October 1, 1956. Jerry and Iva lived in Cambridge, Nebraska while operating the business, Behnke Aviation, for many years. Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Juanita; four sisters, Rose Marie, Roberta, Helen, and Florence; and four brothers, Matthew, Vernon, Robert and John. Survivors include his wife, Iva Behnke, of Indianola; son, Daniel Behnke, of Lexington; brother, Donald and wife, Donna, of Indianola; sisters-in-law, Shirley of Bakersfield, CA and Linda of Kearney; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the Indianola EMTs. Cremation was chosen and inurnment will be in St. Catherines Cemetery, Indianola, NE at a later date.
