Carl Dean McQuiety, age 71, died at his home in Cambridge on May 3, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lebanon, MO on September 2, 1944 to Carl and Elsie (Teter) McQuiety. The family moved to the family farm northwest of Cambridge. He attended country school in Missouri and Northwest of Cambridge, and Cambridge High school. Dean was married to Carol Collicott on April 15, 1971 and to this union 2 children were born: James and Amie. He later remarried in 1987 and gained 3 step-children: Seth, Clif and Amy Swink. He raced stock cars on the North Platte, Lexington, and McCook Speedways, and enjoyed friendships he made attending races for years to come. He enjoyed muscle cars of all makes, and favored Ford and Lincoln cars. Dean loved the outdoors. He had a custom swathing and baling business until he went to work at Cargill feed mill in McCook for 14 years, and later at Besler Industries in Cambridge, intermittently for 15 years. He took great pride in his work and the lifelong friends he would make. In 2012, Dean and step-son Clif started an adventure in trucking, engaging in numerous adventures from concrete to asphalt...and man's dream, demolition! Since its beginning, Clif and Dean Trucking has expanded, and Dean will forever be inspiration to the company. He also farmed and raised Hereford and Angus cattle over the years. Dean was known for his dry sense of humor and wit.
