Brenda Huxoll

October 2, 1939 — March 6, 2025

Born October 2, 1939, beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and friend, Brenda Lou (King) Huxoll passed away on March 6, 2025, in Cambridge, NE surrounded by her family.

Brenda was born to Ralph and Phyllis (Mousel) King in McCook, NE. She was welcomed home by her sister, Carolyn.

On April 2, 1955, she was united in marriage to Martin Huxoll. This union was blessed with four lively sons: Douglas, Michael, Mitchell, and Kurtis. They raised their boys on the farm south of Cambridge.

As a lifelong resident of Cambridge, Brenda stayed busy helping Marty run the farm and chasing her boys around. After her grandkids were born, she never missed an opportunity to watch them, taking them to the fair, swimming pool and teaching them to swim. She attended every program, play, football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball game, along with every track and wrestling meet. Her grandkids were her pride and joy, and they could always count on her being in the stands cheering them on in sports and in life. The Green Bay Packers were “her” team and you could often find her sitting in her chair on a Sunday afternoon watching them in action. She was a lifelong member of the First United Congregational Church of Christ in Cambridge and stayed active by walking and swimming. In fact, she loved swimming so much she swam across the Harry Strunk Lake! Brenda was a huge lover of animals, especially black labs. She was an avid horse rider, riding her horse Flicka as a member of the Cambridge Saddle Club. Brenda was a member of the Cambridge Chapter of PEO for many, many years.

Brenda was proceeded in death by her parents, Ralph and Phyllis; husband, Marty; sister, Carolyn Christie and brother-in-law, Robert Christie of McCook along with many other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and cousins.

Survivors left to celebrate her life include her sons: Doug (Susie) Huxoll of Cambridge, Mike (Cheryl) Huxoll of Hendley, Mitch (Nancy) Huxoll of Henderson, and Kurtis (Susan) Huxoll of Cambridge; grandchildren: Ryan (Kim) Huxoll of Cambridge, Ross (Brooke) Huxoll of Kearney, Hilary (Derek) Galusha of Bertrand, Kaleb (Morgan) Huxoll of Hendley, Logan (Kaitlyn) Huxoll of Cambridge, Kaden (Kortney) Huxoll of Cambridge, Breezy (Isaac) Johnson of Cambridge, & Garrett Huxoll of Cambridge; great-grandchildren: Reid Huxoll, Brenleigh and Briony Huxoll, Baylor, Palmer, and Tanner Galusha, Reese, Sloane, and Hayes Huxoll, Knox and Kolt Huxoll, Owen Huxoll, and Emery Lou and Sammi Johnson.

She will be deeply missed by those who knew & loved her.
