Blaine Allen Frerichs, born on July 24, 2003, in Grand Island, Nebraska, was a treasured son, brother, and uncle whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. The beloved child of Chad and Lena (Pike) Frerichs, Blaine embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He graduated from Southwest Public Schools in Bartley, Nebraska proudly finishing a year early alongside his brother, Kaleb.
At the time of his passing, Blaine was working at Valmont in McCook, an opportunity that brought him great joy as he worked alongside his father. His interests were as diverse as they were passionate; Blaine found joy in watching anime, studying Japanese martial arts, and dreaming of traveling the world. He captured the beauty of life through his nature photography, diligently freezing moments in time that told stories of wonder and adventure.
Family was at the heart of Blaine’s life. Whether it was a game night filled with laughter or precious moments spent playing with his niece, Niyah, every memory was a testament to the love he shared with those around him. He found immense joy in simple pleasures, like target shooting with his mom, reflecting the unbreakable bond they shared.
Blaine passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2026, in McCook, Nebraska, at the age of 22. He leaves behind a loving family and a treasure trove of memories that will forever be cherished. His spirit, vibrant and adventurous, continues to shine through his parents, Lena and Chad; brother, Kaleb Frerichs; beloved niece, Niyah Frerichs; half-brother, Andrew Frerichs; grandmother, Annetta Pike of Cambridge; grandmother, Tammy Avila of Minden, Nebraska; great-grandparents, Don and Julie Gartner of Hansen, Nebraska; grandfather, Jon Frerichs of Grand Island; as well as many uncles and aunts.
Blaine was preceded in death by his grandfather, Steve Pike a great-grandmother; along with several great-aunts and great-uncles.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge on Monday afternoon, January 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Following the visitation, cremation will take place in honor of his memory, with no formal services scheduled at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family of Blaine Frerichs for future designation. Online condolences may be left at lockenour.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge.
