Beverly Haag

October 14, 1933 — December 21, 2024

Beverly Christine Haag, 91, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska; she was surrounded by her family. Born in West Covina, California to Eugene Constantine Akerberg Williams and Bertha Lavina Wimp Williams, the family lived in many different places while their father worked throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Beverly graduated from Moses Lake High School and from Spelman Secretarial School in Spokane, Washington. She then worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at Palisades, Idaho. It was there she met the love of her life, Cyrus “Cy” Thomas Haag. They married April 16, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

In 1960 they moved back to Nebraska to take over the family farm near Danbury with three children in tow and one on the way. They made a wonderful life for their growing family. Bev and Cy were an inseparable team, raising their eight children, building their farm and ranch operation as well as attending all their kids and grandkids many activities through the years. They moved to McCook in 1995 where they enjoyed retirement and travel.

Beverly was known for her quick wit and many life stories. Her many hobbies included doll collecting, reading, cross stitching, crocheting, sewing, embroidery and quilting. She never stopped wanting to learn. Bev loved her many dolls and enjoyed researching everything about them and sharing their information with others. She was so well-read and had a vast knowledge of many subjects. Bev was loved by so many and had a way of making everyone feel like her best friend.

Beverly’s deep Catholic faith was very important to her.

She is survived by her eight children: Donna (Bruce) Niesen of Wilcox, Nebraska; Tom Haag of Lincoln, Nebraska; Carol Ann (Greg) Yost of Beaver City, Nebraska; Bill (Stephanie) Haag of Danbury, Nebraska; James Haag of Ogallala, Nebraska; Kathi (Brendan) Moore of North Platte, Nebraska; Chris (Claire) Haag of Lincoln, Nebraska and Bev (Durl) Reed of Houston, Texas. She was blessed with twenty-nine grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Carolgene (Jim) Whattoff and Dixie (John) Blake all of San Diego, California, as well as her sister-in-law, Caroline Duron of Halstead, Kansas, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cy in 2012 as well as her parents, Eugene and Bertha Williams, sister, Barbara Williams and son-in-law, Brady Dempcy.
