Betty Jo Donohue

Betty Jo Donohue of McCook passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Medical Center in Aurora, CO. She was 90 years old. Betty was born on April 12, 1928 at Washington, KS to parents, Herman and Florence (Oliver) Scheetz. She graduated from Washington High School. In 1952, she was united in marriage to James Joseph Donohue. To this union six children were born, Angela, Jim, Jon, Greg, Danette and Farrell. Betty was a busy mother, homemaker, and worked at Gibsons, Hillcrest, and Farrells Pharmacy for many years. She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, Altar Society, sang in the choir, and helped with many funeral dinners. Betty loved walking 3-4 miles a day even walking sometimes at night by flashlight. She loved the Christmas holiday enjoying the lights, festivities, and enjoying her family. She was an exceptional housekeeper. Preceding her in death were her parents, Herman and Florence Scheetz; husband, James Donohue in 1982; son, Jim Donohue in 1983; brother, Farrell Scheetz; and sister-in-law, Shigeko. Survivors include her children, Angela and husband, John Plummer, of Centennial, CO, Jon Donohue and wife, Brenda, of McCook, Greg Donohue and wife, DeDe, of Evergreen, CO, Danette and husband, David Baxter, of Lakewood, CO, and Farrell Donohue of McCook; 14 grandchildren, Aaron Plummer, Jeff Plummer, Chris Plummer, Shay Luster, Nathan Watkins, Lindsay Dunagan, Laurie Donohue, Shannon Donohue, Tyler Donohue, Sam Donohue, Stefen Donohue, Kelsie Baxter, Chase Baxter, and Colin Baxter; ten great-grandchildren; and niece, Linda Jones of Lawton, OK. Memorials may be given in her name, Visitation will be at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, Thursday, December 13, 2018, 10:00 a.m. until time of rosary which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 14, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook entrusted with arrangements.
