Betty Lou Adkins

Betty Lou Adkins of Danbury passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She was 74 years old. Betty was born on November 11, 1941 to parents, Charles and Mary (Tutor) Murray at Chisholm, Minnesota. She received her GED in 1987. On July 18, 1974 she was united in marriage to Hobert Harold Adkins in Powell, Wyoming. Together they raised six children. Betty was a busy mother and homemaker. She also found time to work at Hinky Dinky, Sun-Mart, and the Chief Motel until her retirement. Betty loved to hunt deer, fish, work jigsaw puzzles, and play Bingo. Every year Betty would crochet with love Christmas boots and fill them with candy. She would hand them out to all the railroad personnel that stayed at the Chief Motel. In return for their appreciation they gave her a sewing machine one year. Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles Murray and Mary Murray-Willard; her husband, Harold Adkins; her son, Albert; grandson, Heath Adkins; and daughter-in-law, Amy Adkins. Survivors include her children, Steve Adkins of Shelton, Alan (Traci) Adkins of Miller, SD, Hank Adkins of Danbury, Wanda (Jimmy) Manie of Redding, CA and Brenda (Tom) Tynsky of Riverton, WY; daughter-in-law, Marlene Adkins-Stephens of Gillette, WY; three sisters, Anne Smith of Eagle River, AK, Sandra Fisher of McCook, and Rose Day of Danbury; one brother, George Bud Wasson of Lebanon, NE; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the Danbury Fire and Rescue. Visitation will be Friday 5-8:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel. Graveside service, followed by burial, will be Saturday, June 4, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the Danbury-Marion Cemetery with Justin Day officiating. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation
