Barbara Ruth Mcconnell

Barbara Ruth McConnell of Trenton passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at El Dorado Manor. She was 98 years old. Barbara was born on November 30, 1919 at Trenton to parents, Perry Earl "P.E." and Hope (Pember) Bentley. She graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1937. She was united in marriage to James Edward McConnell on January 21, 1942 in McCook. They lived on the family farm southwest of Trenton. To this marriage two sons were born, Harold and Mack. Barbara was a busy mother and homemaker but in her spare time she loved to read. She also worked at the Trenton Public Library for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents, P.E. and Hope Bentley; her husband, Jim McConnell; son, Mack McConnell; one great-grandson, Zackary Schnabel; three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include her son, Harold "Hal" McConnell and wife, Shirley, of Trenton; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given in her name. Visitation will be Friday, February 9, 2018, 10:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, Trenton, NE. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018, 3:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, Trenton, NE. Burial will follow at the Trenton Cemetery.
