Barbara J. Graff Marts

Barbara J. Graff-Marts formerly of McCook passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial, Nebraska. She had been residing at Sunrise Heights Nursing Home in Wauneta, Nebraska. She was 76 years old. Barbara was born on December 23, 1940, at McCook to parents, George and Olinda (Kautz) Graff. She graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1960. On May 5, 1962 she was united in marriage to Jim L. Marts. They made their home in McCook where Barbara was a busy homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and Altar Society. Barbara loved to sew and made most of her clothes for herself and family. She also enjoyed her yard, especially her roses and tulips, and her favorite cat Frodo. Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Olinda Graff; her husband, Jim Marts on August 1, 2008; and son, Christopher Joseph Marts. Survivors include her children Tammie and husband, Tim Redden, and Christopher James Marts and wife, Alison, all of McCook; brother, Larry Graff and wife, Peggy, of Windsor, CO; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a host of family and friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Visitation will be Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook from 4:00 p.m. until time of rosary which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 3, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation
