Barbara Durner

December 17, 1933 — July 20, 2015

Barbara Durner age 81, went home to heaven, Monday July 20, 2015 at the Cambridge manor after a courageous battle with lung disease and cancer. She was born on Dec. 17, 1933 to James and Nellie (Easton) Allen in Frontier County. She graduated from Cambridge high school. She married Raymond Durner on Sept.14, 1952. They made their home on the farm north of Bartley where they farmed for many years. To this union 4 children were born-- daughters Vicky (Jim) Philips of Greeley, Colorado, Vonnie (Don) Moore, of McCook, Judy (Dave) Pederson of North Platte and son Larry (Anngie) Durner of Bartley.

Barbara was very creative. She made many beautiful quilts, and did lots of crocheting and knitting as well. She raised a big garden and had lots of chickens on the farm. In 2011 they moved to Indianola.

She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she played the organ and taught Sunday school among many other things.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie Allen, parents-in-law, Fred and Evalena Dumer, brother, Richard Allen, brothers-in-law, Harold Moore, Eldon Durner, and Robert Durner, sisters-in-law, Hazel Durner and May Ann Allen.

She is survived by her husband, her children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, one brother, Jerry Allen of Simla, Colorado, four sisters, Marian Moore of McCook, Jean Allen of North Platte, Pauline (Gordon) Gaasch of Broken Bow, and Marilyn (Darryl) Rowan of Hastings, three sisters-in-law, Margaret Allen of Cambridge, Lora (Gerald) Wolfe of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Marge (Jim) Nixon of Bartley as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Memorials may be left in her name to Mosaic Mission (formally Bethpage Mission) of Axtell, Nebr., where her grandson, Joey Durner, lives. (Or the charity of your choice.)

Cards of condolence may be sent to 619 N. Third St. Indianola, NE 69034. Visitation will be all day Wednesday July 22, 2015, at the Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with the family greeting visitors 6-8:00 PM.

Services will be Thursday, July 23rd at 10:00 A.M. at the McCook Christian Church, 507 West B Street with Pastor Neil Durner officiating.

Interment will be at the Bartley cemetery following the service. Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge is in charge of the arrangements.
