B. Joyce Stear

B. Joyce Stear, age 85, of Cambridge, NE died on Friday December 17, 2010 at the Tri Valley Health System Long Term Care Facility. She was born in Otis, Colorado on October 5, 1925 to Harold Gideon and Grace Inez (Clark) Rorabaugh. She graduated from LoneStarHigh School in Colorado, then went on to study at ColoradoStateCollege of Agriculture in Ft.Collins, now ColoradoStateUniversity. She was granted an emergency teaching certificate to teach at LoneStarSchool. After marrying, she worked as a teller in a bank. On June 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Robert Stear. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2009. The couple made their home in Holbrook 1956 -68, Curtis 1968 -72 and Lincoln, NE 1972 -90 before moving back to Cambridge upon "semi" retirement. Joyce was responsible for the bookkeeping and the managing of Dr. Stears veterinarian clinics. Joyce was active in her church life and was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of McCook. She taught Sunday school, director of youth ministries, special needs classes, serving in many other offices and functions of the churches. She made mission trips to Mexico, Bolivia and to Alaska. They hosted many students from around the world. She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, D.A.R., P.E.O. International, Rotary International, Nebraska past president Veterinary Auxiliary; Monday Musicale. Joyce traveled through out the continental US and around the world with her husband on both business and pleasure trips. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dr. Robert Stear, DVM; a son: Paul; grand son: Joshua Fuenning; 2 brothers: Jim and Gerald Rorabaugh; sister: Jean OBrien. Joyce is survived by her 3 daughters: Barb and husband Lee Sayer of Stapleton, NE; Pat Stear of Lincoln, NE; Kathryn and husband Robert Fitzgerald of Kearney; 2 sons: David Stear of Millville, NJ; Michael and wife Jackie of Bellingham, WA; 17 grand children; 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the Evangelical Free Church in McCook, NE with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. Burial will be in the FairviewCemetery in Cambridge at 4:00 PM on Tuesday. Visitation will be Sunday evening 3:00 Pm till 7:00 PM, Monday 9:00 AM Till 7:00 PM.
