B. Darlene Korf

B. Darlene Korf, age 92 of McCook, NE passed away at her home on Thursday, October 9, 2014. She was born in Dundy County on March 28, 1922 to Stephen and Reba (Smith) Ellis. The family moved to Parks when Darlene was young. She graduated from Parks High School in 1941. Darlene moved to McCook where she worked for the District Court. During this time she was engaged to the love of her life, Wayne Korf. Darlene and Wayne were married November 3, 1945 in McCook at the Memorial United Methodist Church. To this union two children were born: Sherwood and Kristi. Wayne preceded her in death on November 5, 1979. Darlene was a devoted, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years; the Eureka Chapter 86 of the Order of the Eastern Star; past president of P.E.O. Chapter FA, Daughters of the Nile and the McCook China Painters., Darlene was an excellent cook and was known for her peach pie and Christmas chocolate balls. Darlene just canned many quarts of peaches for her reserve supply for pies. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Wayne; son: Sherwood; brother: John Ellis; 6 sisters: Wilma Bauer; Leslie Ault; Josephine Buttenbach; June Schmid; Jenny Haines; infant Mary Ruth. Darlene is survived by her daughter: Kristi and husband Jim Clapp of McCook, NE; grandchildren and great-grands: Michelle and husband Chris Leitner of Omaha, NE, children: Ainsley and Graci; Marcus and wife Leesa Clapp of Kearney, NE, children: Wyatt; Myles and Lucy; Jenny and husband Kent Psota of North Richland Hills, TX, Drew; Vance; Jami and husband Greg Fought of Lincoln, NE, children: Tre, Taylen; Kyson; Jodi and husband Ron Burford of Melbourne, FL , daughter: Ashlin; 2 sisters: Joyce Crandon and friend Dick Davis of Benkelman, NE ; Patricia and husband Don Brehm of Omaha, NE; 2 brothers: Hayden and wife Thayne Ellis of Wichita, KS; ,Tom and wife Jennifer Ellis of Oconto, NE; brother-in-law: Wayne Schmid of Kalispell, MT; Kiley Harris of Cedar Rapids, loving nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. Funeral Services for Darlene will be held at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dr. Doug Griger officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 from 10:00 AM till 8:00 PM at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook.
