Annalea Janousek passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020, at her rural Stratton home. She was 70 years old. Annalea was born on July 25, 1949 at Colby, Kansas the daughter of Clarence Everett and Ruth Mabel (Bence) McDermott. She attended Atwood Public Schools and later graduated from McCook Beauty Academy as a hairdresser. On April 20, 1968 she married Phillip J. Janousek at McCook. They made their home on the Janousek family farm where they raised their two sons, Leslie and Lance. Annalea was a busy homemaker, wife, mother, and later a devoted grandmother. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was also a member of a Pitch Card Club and the Red Hatters. Her hobbies outside her family included collecting dolls, quilting, cooking and baking, and spending time in her yard. She was a huge advocate of genealogy. She spent hours researching, visiting cemeteries, and interviewing family members to help her compile books of family history. Preceding her in death were her parents, Clarence and Ruth McDermott and brother, John McDermott. Survivors include her husband of almost 52 years, Phillip Janousek of Stratton; sons, Leslie Janousek and wife, Helena, of Trenton and Lance Janousek and wife, Kristi, of Burlington, CO; and four grandchildren, Devin M. Simon, Martina L. Janousek, Airman Apprentice Zachary P. Janousek and Tyson P. Janousek; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in her name. Tentative services are as follows: Rosary will be recited Friday, June 5, 2020, 7:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 6, 2020, 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton with Father Christopher Miller as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook entrusted with arrangements.
