Amber Nicole Newcomb, age 37, of Cambridge, NE passed away on Thursday, September 11, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. She was born in Cambridge on January 17, 1977, to Ed Newcomb and Judy (Thompson) Mousel. Amber graduated from Cambridge High School and attended Mid Plains Community College in North Platte.
Amber was a very kind and gentle soul; who had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to and helping others. She especially took pride in helping the elderly and children with special needs. She was employed at various nursing homes, Alliance Public Schools and most recently, McCook Public Schools as a paraprofessional. She enjoyed spending time with her Pomeranian and most loyal companion, Joey. She also loved cheering on the Nuggets and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Ambers life dealt her many hardships, but she always found strength to meet each day with a smile and accepted each challenge gracefully. With Ambers passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her everyday, especially her kind heart and winning smile, she will forever remain in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers: Winton Newcomb and Vaughn Thompson; aunts: Judi Newcomb and Deanna Thompson; cousin: Justin Lewis.
Amber is survived by her: parents: Ed Newcomb and Judy Mousel of Cambridge; 2 brothers: Brett and wife Chelse Newcomb of Omaha; Andrew Newcomb of Cambridge; 2 nieces:Pailee and Crosby Newcomb and 2 nephews: Kobe and Jalen MIller: Grandmothers: Maxine Newcomb of Cambridge; Carolyn Thompson of Sterling, KS; Aunts: Karen Lewis of Sterling, KS; Dixie and husband Dan Ernst of Lincoln, NE; Lois Thompson of Sterling, KS; Cheryl and husband Duane Kuhnel of Johnson Lake, NE; Sandy and husband Boyd Reading of Lincoln, NE; Uncles: Kenny Thompson of Sterling, KS; Keith and wife Tammy Thompson of Westcliffe, CO.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the First Congregational Church in Cambridge with Bill Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 from 9:30 AM till 7:00 PM. Casket will be closed at the Church.
