Allen Lee Weintz

January 27, 1965 — April 21, 2025

Allen Lee Weintz passed away unexpectedly at his home in McCook on April 21, 2025.

Allen was born on January 27, 1965 at St. Catherines Hospital, McCook, Nebraska to Ralph Burdette Weintz and Judy Ann (Vodehnal) Weintz. His older brother Philip was excited to welcome Allen to their family.

From an early age Allen enjoyed being outside and often shared how he had a paper route, worked for his grandpa and liked going fishing with his dad and brother. Allen continued his love of fishing throughout his life and particularly liked going to the Swanson “pits” to fish. He always credited his skills for catching fish to the lures he made. Allen loved car racing and was pleased when his 1963 ½ Ford Galaxy started when he recently drove it to its new garage.

After finishing at McCook High School Kelly Catt and Allen were married in McCook. They moved to California where their son Tony was born. Allen lived in California and worked with his brother Phil roofing for several years before returning to McCook where he has lived since. When returning to McCook he continued as a contractor and worked in many people’s homes. He and his father, Burdette worked together for many years and after Burdette retired Allen continued with Weintz Construction.

In 1996 Allen and Kendra Morris were married at the First Baptist Church in McCook. Allen and Kendra raised two sons, Nathan and Trey. Caring for his family and their home was always important to Allen. He also had a “green “thumb and grew great gardens, beautiful flowers, and huge indoor plants. The boys had many pets that Allen helped with, lizards, turtles, cats, and dogs. Allen especially loved his dogs, Husker and Buddy. Allen spent many hours taking Buddy for walks even when Buddy was so crippled up Allen had to lift him into the car.

Allen is proceeded in death by his parents, Burdette and Judy Weintz; his brother, Philip, father-in-law, Eugene Morris and sister-in-law Berdena Kleckner.
