Allen I. Palmateer

Allen I. Palmateer age 79 of Bartley died at his home after a short battle with cancer on Thursday October 4, 2012. He was born on the family farm near Madison, NE on November 23, 1932 to Irvin and Alma (Grouteleushen) Palmateer. Allen attended school in Madison.

Allen was married to Carol Colleen Hoshor on March 12, 1953, to this union 2 children were born Charlene Louise and Bryan Allen. Carol preceded him in death on November 1, 1989. Allan serviced his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a permanent member of the American Legion Post 245 of Bartley serving over 40 years. He was member of the Eagles of North Platte, NE. Allen lived in Cozad, Gothenburg and retired to his home in Bartley. Allen drove a truck most of his life until retirement.

On June 9, 1990, Allen was married to Lenora (Johnson) Chancellor. Allen enjoyed restoring and driving antique tractors, motorcycles, fishing and camping. He and LeNora spent winters in either Arizona or Texas. Allen was a member of the Kemper United Methodist Church of Bartley.

He is survived by his wife LeNora of Bartley; daughter: Charlene and her husband Ralph Ogier of Gothenburg; spn Bryan Palmateer of North Platte NE 1 step daughter: LaRena and husband Rick Stuckwith of South Bend, Indiana: 3 step sons: Merlin Chancellor of Denver, CO; Joel and his wife Brenda Chancellor of Curtis, NE; Elgin and wife Heather of McCook, NE; 2 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; 2 great-grand children; 8 step great-grand children; 2 brothers: Oran and wife Paula of Vail, Co; Kenneth and wife Kathy of Payton, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Carol; grand daughter: Whitney Buchholz-Lange; step daughter: Jenelda Chancellor; sister: Helene Koch; brother: Victor Palmateer.

Memorial services will be held on October 10, 2012, at 2: PM at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with Pastor Lance Clay officiating. Inurnment will be in the Bartley Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Memorials may be left in his name.
