Alan Scott Grafel Of Culbertson passed away Wednesday, March, 8, 2017, at his home in Culbertson, Nebraska. He was 52 years old. "Scott" was born in McCook on May 27, 1964 to parents Elmore and Beverley (Young) Grafel. He graduated from Culbertson High School with the class of 1982. Scotts life revolved around the farm where he loved working with cattle. He was hired hand for nine years by Darrel Schlegel and then 27 years farming for Dale Kenny. He was employed part time by Johnsons Concrete. Scott was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ. He made woodworking crafts for the Red Hatters, church, women's club and county fair. He built sets for numerous plays, including a craps table. Scott raised calves. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Albert and Eva Young; paternal grandparents, August and Mary Grafel; and brother, Timothy Grafel (2009). Survivors include his parents, Elmore and Beverley Grafel of Culbertson; sister, Tina and husband, Alan Aschoff, of Hastings, NE; nieces, Miranda and Krystin Aschoff, also of Hastings, NE; and numerous friends. Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2017 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friends may go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 11, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Memorials may be left in Scotts name. Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Lunch will be at the Culbertson Ambulance building after services. Visitation
