Dale Arthur Hofman passed away on June 10, 2018, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska, at the age of 78. He was born on December 9, 1939, in McCook to George and Lena (Reiners) Hofman. He graduated from McCook High School in 1957 and from McCook Junior College in 1959. On June 10, 1961, he married Eva Marie Sughroue at Saint Catherines Catholic Church in Indianola, Nebraska. To this union three children were bornAnn Lynette, Douglas Dale, and Andrew Lee. Dale was very active in the McCook Nebraska Jaycees, becoming a member in 1961 and serving on several committees and receiving many awards. Dale served as the local Jaycees President in 1971-72 and then served as the State Vice President in 1972-73. During the time as local president, Dale was most proud of the four-ball diamond baseball/softball complex project in McCook on Red Willow County Fairground property known as the Jaycee Complex. Dale was active in the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights and called bingo for many years. He also served as lector and acolyte at St. Patricks Catholic Church. He was a CYO teacher, Boy Scout leader, YMCA board member, and little league football and midget baseball coach. Dale was an avid outdoor walker and book reader, enjoyed his big garden, and loved to travel. Dale and Eva traveled to all fifty states, Central and South America, Canada, and many European countries. Dale loved following his children and grandchildren in all their school and sports activities. He was a Bison fan of all sports, and he also enjoyed the Cornhuskers and attended many football games. Preceding him in death were his parents George and Lena Hofman; brother Larry Hofman; and in-laws Martin and Lena Sughroue. Survivors include his wife Eva of 57 years; daughter Ann (Kevin) Fornoff of Hayes Center, Nebraska; sons, Douglas (Brenda) Hofman of Fort Morgan, Colorado and Andrew Hofman of McCook, Nebraska; brother Lewis Hofman; sister Hilda (Rich) Hampton of Culbertson, Nebraska; sister-in-law Joyce Hofman of McCook, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kyle (Morgan) Fornoff of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Amanda (Bryce) Buhr of McCook, Nebraska; Adam (Bethany) Hofman of San Antonio, Texas; Matthew Hofman of Fort Morgan, Colorado; Katelyn Hofman and Noah Hofman of McCook, Nebraska; great grandchildren Bryce Fornoff, Allison Hofman, and Barrett Buhr.
